Prepare the conversation about what comes next

Keep education, examination and employment responsibilities distinct.

01

Separate the outcomes

Programme completion, independent examination eligibility, qualification decisions and employment are different matters. Ask which organisation is responsible for each statement and which current written information supports it.

02

Ask about professional preparation

Discuss practical work, discipline, communication, production planning and the evidence of learning the programme is intended to develop. Confirm the actual arrangements rather than inferring them from an aspirational job title.

03

Professional practice in everyday work

Mise en place, production planning, clear handovers and professional communication connect technical learning to organised work. Ask how the actual programme develops these habits alongside hygiene, practical production and feedback.

04

Avoid guaranteed destinations

Education can support professional development without guaranteeing a job, business outcome or international opportunity. Outcome reporting needs cohort context, response rates and an explanation of what the evidence can establish.
