Practical demonstration
Competency should be connected to observable practical capability. A framework should explain what a learner is expected to know, what they should be able to do and what evidence would demonstrate that capability.
Clear criteria and attributable evidence
- Identify the applicable standard and expected outcomes
- Describe practical tasks and the conditions around the work
- Use clear criteria relevant to the competency
- Establish authorship and the source of evidence
- Record the responsibility for evaluation and review
Craft, science and production
The assessment principles connect craft technique, ingredient and process understanding, production consistency, hygiene, workflow and professional practice. The actual approved specification defines the scope and evidence requirements.
Separate education and examination decisions
IBPED’s role is framework development and assessment principles. IBPE independently governs formal professional examinations, examiner standards, moderation, results and credentials. Educational participation does not decide an IBPE result.
Education Meets ExaminationQuality and review
Assessment principles should be reviewed through feedback, evidence, conflict-of-interest controls and the approved quality assurance process. Detailed operating policies remain pending publication.
